NEW YEAR DAY MASSACRES: what the Sahel slave trade couldn't achieve, the swords of evil savagers achieved while our leaders look on to the chagrin of the world.

By Joachim Okhai.

"The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The moral question of the day is no longer what is President Buhari, El-Rufai and Wike doing about the gorious and gruesome unexpected murder of innocent Nigerians, but rather, it is; what are fellow Nigerians, men and women of goodwill and conscience, doing about these unjust killings.

Some have questioned my audacity of  accusing Buhari and Wike indirectly as the forces behind the New year day massacres.
Firstly, we are aware that Buhari is the President of MACBAN. Secondly, S'Kaduna and Benue are fortified with heavy military presences, yet the killer Fulani herdsmen (Buhari's kinsmen) find it easy to beat these military outposts to wreck havocs without consequences and the President of MACBAN refused to reprimand his kinsmen - except 'the slap on the back of the hand by El-Rufai' who once said that "anyone who kills a Fulani man takes a loan that must be repaid in the future." Now the big question is: did the two traditional rulers who once resisted Fulani invasion in S'Kaduna who are now dead under the watch of heavy security, and the Benue people who were slaughtered by the savagers inadvertently 'took a loan in the past' that they now paid for with their lives?
How long will good men of goodwill fold their hands in silence and watch the slaughtering of women, pregnant women killed cut open their fetus removed and slaughtered, and children killed like animals as it happened in Benue, before they speak-up?  Were is our conscience and where is our humanity?
Dr. King once said that an injustice to one is an injustice to all. Does Buhari and our leaders who sits on high thrones know that this seed of violence has generational consequences - a wild vicious cycle? Does he know that the killing of one Nigerian equals the killing of all Nigerians?
History has taught us to hold leadership responsible when dastard acts like these are melted out to a people. Posterity will not hold Buhari and his men guiltless for these inadvertent injustice and 'complicity in silence' of same.
While we condemn the mayhem and slaughter of the Crossover Night massacre in Rivers State by Wike's men, we can at least acknowledge Wike's N200Million bounty to fish-out the killers, while Buhari and Kaduna State's Midget-in-Chief fail to do nothing. Let them be reminded that the hottest place in hell is reserved for evil leaders who will destroy all, including God's valuable creatures, by playing the role of arbiters of injustice.

This write up by is SMG Onibiyo is instructive:

"Coincidence? MACBAN,  the umbrella body of Fulani herdsmen demanded the arrest of 2 traditional rulers in Kaduna state.
Some time later, both traditional rulers are assassinated by Fulani herdsmen.
Buhari is the grand patron of MACBAN, also head of state and commander in chief of the Armed Forces of the federal republic of Nigeria.
No one has been arrested for these killings and the president maintains complete silence on the issue.
Store this post for future reference."

Conclusively, I opine that while we choose to look the other way against the dictates of good conscience and our common humanity, which we cannot escape from; let's not forget; posterity watches each and every role we play in this unfolding drama in Nigeria, a gruesome drama where human life counts for nothing in the hands of bloodthirsty evil wholesale killers - as quilty as they remain, so are we - those of us who choose to keep silent while the blood of the innocent flows unabated in our fatherland.

The clock is ticking, we are waiting to hear 'the next massacre with no consequences' to the murderers. This continues because we choose to be silent in the face of these killings. May the graphic images attached to this post cause you to have a rethink of your stances in this narrative.

May God save our Fatherland and make not the labour of our heroes past be in vain.
