Obiano Security withdraw: who is lying to Nigerians?

Police deny withdrawing Obiano’s security aides.

The Police High Command has said that it did not withdraw the security aides attached to Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano as being reported in the media ahead of Saturday’s election.

It said the Aide-De-Camp (ADC) and the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the governor were called to the command headquarters in Awka to attend Inspector-General of Police (IGP) lecture with other police personnel and security agencies to attend inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) in the state.

A statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Jimoh Moshood, in Abuja yesterday, said the state command had issued a statement to state that the security aides were called to the command to attend the IGP’s lecture ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

According to him, 221 police personnel attached to the governor are more than the strength of some police area commands in some states of the country. He said that this was done to ensure optimum safety and protection of the executive governor of Anambra State.

Also, the Anambra State Police Command, while reacting through the Police Public Relations Officer, Nkiru Nwode, insisted that the officers were “only routinely invited to the Force Headquarters for proper briefing on how to perform their duties during the election to avoid breaching electoral laws.”

Nwode, who made the clarification at the command’s headquarters at a press conference, added that there are over 221 police officers providing security to the governor and family and that it was just the ADC that was called for briefing.
